Hello I have an old Desktop with windows XP service pack 3
I wanted to try puppy Linux on it so I made a bootable puppy linux CD
with ImgBurn and after finishing burning the CD I rebooted the PC and I noticed I got an error (before shutting down)"Dwwin.exe DLL initialization failed" "The application failed because the windows station is shutting down" I ignored this and rebooted my pc and tried puppy linux from the cd worked really well. I shutdown my pc and removed the CD and booted into windows xp everything works fine it's just when I log off or turn of my PC I get that error. So I ran a scan with Malwarebytes and it found 1 thing and that was pup.optional.opencandy and I googled it and I found it comes bundled with ImgBurn. pup.optional.opencandy was removed by malwarebytes and after that I still get this error. I restarted my pc multiple times but the error wont go away. Please Help

NOTE: Dwwin.exe is Dr. Watson for Windows (Microsoft Application Error Reporting)

No way of knowing "WHAT" caused the error without viewing the Log(IMPOSSIBLE to do here at YAHOO Answers)

If Opencandy was found, there will be other's.

They do that for Free. You may try it at a later date if you so wish

NOTE: To have Malwarebytes check for PUP's:

Open the program>>Settings Tab>>Scanner Settings

On " Action for potentially unwanted programs(PUP)"

Dwwin.exe is from the Microsoft Error Reporting sevice, also known as Dr. Watson. This is popping up because you did indeed have malware on your PC. The malware probably changed something on you PC that it wasnt supposed to. Open up a command prompt and type in sfc /scannow. This will run the file checker and may ask for the installation disk, not a recovery disk. You could also look in your Event Viewer to see if there was an error recorded there with details. Dr Watson does make a log of everything it does so you can go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson to find this log or type in DRWTSN32 in the start menu search bar to open up the interactive mode.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

Try to get some sort antivirus program, like Norton Antivirus or Kaspersky. Once you download it, run a full system scan.

If this is a recent problem, try doing a system restore, to a date before it happened
