Virus on laptop... HELP PLEASE.?
I'm dying over here, i can't figure out how to get rid of this virus, Help would be very much appreciated.
My laptop started acting weird and brought up this 'system repair' crap which i later found out was a virus, so i downloaded an 'anti-virus' thing but i have suspicions that that indeed was a virus also. I've already done a system restore to a month ago and that was about as much help as a lead parachute.
It now won't even let me open the internet and if it does it doesn't stay open for long without closing itself.
Just to make this clear, i know absolutely NOTHING about computers and i am so lost right now :( Lol.

Just in case you need this information, i have a Dell D610 laptop with windows XP. Thank you much.

The easiest way is going to a computer repair specialist and have him totally wipe out your harddrive and processor. Sometimes you can get a really bad virus that doesn't just stay on the harddrive to corrupt it. If that is the case it has also moved to your processor and bios, so even if you have a legitiment anti-virus it will take it off the harddrive. But everytime you turn off your computer then back on, the virus reactivates itself and reinstalls itself back to the harddrive like it never left.

Word of advice, it is a popup, so was the so called antivirus. Never download that kind of stuff on the net. Always purchase your system software at a retail store or from an actual authorized site that has a certificate of authenticity.

The "system repair" will come up on a lot of sites as it is an ad popup just to make you think something is wrong. It is another form of unwanted solictation just like any other spammer. And never open any download without pre-scanning it with a legitiment anti-virus. (i.e. norton, computer associates, mcafee, ect.)

Hope this kinda points you in the right direction.
