Very easily if you write it on a piece of paper and leave it laying around.

It also depends on what Operating system you are using, i.e. Windows 95/98, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Linux, etc.

There are many utilities to break a password but many of the software takes time to break the encryption of the password, (unless you have Cian(sic) enabled). There are also devices that can capture all your keystores (i.e. anything you type can be logged into a text file or sent to a remote computer). Please note that these are not toys and breaking into someone's computer is a big NO NO.....yes?

It's best to changed your password as often as your can and report any misuse of the computers to your administrator.

Remember you are always being watched!

For what? Your computer login? An account on the web?

Easiest method is installing a keylogger on your computer (it's a little program that records the keys you press and saves the data). But some saved passwords, even if they are ***** out are poorly secured (like for example, in Internet Explorer) and can, by someone who knows what he is doing, be decrypted.

Sometimes it can be guessed for example: your birthday, your favourite colour, your boyfriend's name. If it is a word, a dictionary attack or a brute force attack can be used to figure it out. (Dictionary attact: Try logging in using a list (or dictionary) of words. Brute force: have the computer start with say aaa, and then aab, aac, aad, etc... this takes a long time to do (and is traceable) if you have a decent password).

For effective hacking i suggest either port hacking (you can do anything possible if you get through) but its normally not succefull because people may have firewalls. C-Force for fidning out usernames and passwords to websites. Bruteforcing (same as above but takes less intel to use). And the ol' Keylogger which have been made illigal in most states. And also.. did you know that hacking into other peoples computers was legalized sometime when Clinton was in office (he didnt legalze it himself) because if it were legal they couldnt hack into the computers of terrorists.

It is usually people who know you personally OR people who talk to you in chat rooms who gain just enough personal info by talking to you that they can figure out your password. I mean come on most of us usually use a password that involves a pet, a birthdate, a loved one or whatever. If that person talks to you long enough and asks enough info they can figure out your password. So, do not tell anyone any personal info about you when you are online.

The three most likely ways someone finds out your password are (in order of most likely to least likely):

* You [unknowingly] provided that information to them

* Brute force

* Someone exploited a security vulnerability

The last two are pretty closely tied. They shift position depending on the application, but the #1 is solidly in first place.

I know there is a "special instrument" so you can get passwords, I don't know the name, but the other day I forgot my password at work and someone from the IT department came with "this instrument" and she gave me my password that was creepy because I didn't know that someone could do it.

I hope someone here is more knowledgeable...

Hacker. They do anything to find them. They could be friends who saw something with your password on it or those ads you find on the computer where if you answer correctly you get a prize.

Most of you people should be calling it "cracking" instead of "hacking" and its a "cracker" not a "hacker". By the way installing keyloggers, brute-forcing, and dictionary-attacks are script kiddie methods and are usually frowned apon in the real hacker community.

with software sold by secret company.

if you have Internet explorer [distributed by Microsoft] you should go to www.microsoft.com and update your current Internet explorer version. the updated version will stop people from hacking and will protect you from further or future password hacking.

It depends on where you use your machine is it a public one and you have accidently save the login? Has any one seen it?

Change it quick and then monitor where you use it.

it depends... but to cut it all short, people would use key loggers to get the keystroke done on the system
