How to remove Win 7 Total Security?

My mom's PC got the Win 7 Total Security malware. How should I go about getting rid of it? I am not the most computer savvy person in the world, but I'm willing to get down and dirty with command prompt if it means fixing her computer. Also, are there any softwares that can remove the malware automatically? Finally, what softwares can I use to protect her computer in the future.

1. Click Start->Run or press WinKey+R. Type in "command" and press Enter key.

2. In the command prompt window type "notepad" and press Enter key. Notepad will come up.

3. Copy all the text given on this page http://justpaste.it/9qv and paste to Notepad.

4. Save file as fix.reg to your Desktop. NOTE: (Save as type: All files)

5. Double-click on the fix.reg file to run it. Click "Yes" for Registry Editor prompt window. Then click OK.

6. Download free anti-malware software from the list below and run a full system scan.



* MalwareBytes Anti-malware

* SUPERAntispyware

* Spybot S&D

* Hitman Pro 3.5



Don't forget to update the installed program before scanning.

Use Malwarebytes, an excellent security program. Just download it to your computer and save it under a different name if the virus allows you. If it doesn't, download it to a flash drive first, and then connect it to your computer and run it from there.



If that doesn't work, restart your computer in the safe mode and try it. Tap the F8 button while your computer is starting up to get into the safe mode.



When you are done, I would buy the paid version of Malwarebytes and use it as your anti virus software. Remove any other security program because they interfere with one another.

Do what Tyler said. Download it, install it and let it update. Then

Restart in Safe Mode and run it. That will prevent the malware from loading and possibly preventing removal.

start up in safe mode with networking (start up your computer and keep tapping f8)



it might pop up in safe mode but don't worry about it.



right click on your task bar and open the task manager



click on the bottom to show all processes



if it does startup, go to the applications tab, right click on the virus, and hit go to process



then right click on the appropriate process, open file location



if you don't see the .exe in that directory, leave it open then open the control panel from the start menu



click on folder options, go to view tab and uncheck hide system files and click show hidden files



hit ok



go back to the folder where the virus should be, click on it and hit F5, scroll down and look for it.



go back to the task manager and end the virus's process.



then go back to the folder and delete the exe in there and any other .exe's with similar naming schemes(its usually random letters and numbers)



then go online and download malwarbytes anti-malware, install and run a full scan.



you should be good.
