okay so here's the problem. Now today i turned my computer on. It turned on as normal and everything was okay. then one of those bubble things popped up on the bottom right hand corner. it said something like "Please check your Security" or something like that. so i clicked it and i noticed that AVG was turned off, and that, that was the problem. so i clicked turn on. then clicked CONTINUE when it asked for permission. After i clicked continue. nothing happened. the Permission box disappeared. so i tried again and the same thing happened.

Re-boot your computer in SAFE MODE

To run it in Safe Mode, as soon as your computer turns on hit the F8 key (repeatedly) until a screen comes up

Choose Start computer in SAFE MODE with network support

Download and install Malware Bytes and run a full scan with both AVG & Malwarebytes

That's a fake alert. The real alert says "Virus Protection" not Malware Protection.

Open AVG from here: Start > Programs > AVG. Here you can activate AVG, update, and run a scan.

You should also run scans with your anti-spyware programs. If you don't have any, here's trusted, free anti-spyware programs:

• Ad-Aware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php

• Spybot Search & Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

• Windows Defender http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx <~ if you have Vista, you already have this one

• SuperAntiSpyware http://www.superantispyware.com/

• Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/index.php

Always update before running a scan

First, uninstall AVG. It's a waste of system resources. If you are stupid enough to walk into a virus, AVG isn't going to help.

Second, reinstall it, if you won't listen to good advice.

Finally, you're better off just having registry protection, like Tea Timer. That's all you have to worry about on your shite Windows machine. If you really want an anti-virus program, don't waste time, money, and resources. Get the free one. Get the best one.

try to reinstall, if your using vista right click run as administrator, personal Avira free home edition is better , and after that Avast would be my next choice in freeware virus programs AVG really is a poor virus program.

If you open up AVG itself and turn it on from there you should see the option to turn on the components that are turned off. I would also recommend running a full pc scan maybe over night as anti-virus's do not just turn themselves off.
