In my opinion all the big antivirus software companies are over rated. I have used Avast Antivirus Home Edition for years now and have had minimal damage to my computer.

Avast has an option to check for virus, trojans & spyware on boot up.. this will help you remove all virus from your computer even before you see the login screen for Windows.

If you keep Avast on 'High' protection you can filter out all the trojans, virus and spyware that gets downloaded while you're on the internet or while transferring files from other peoples pen drives/USB keys.

Try it for yourself. Its free at www.avast.com

Download Bitdefender the trial version and it will find the virus and delete it. Trust me it will. When you have successful completed this, also download McAfee Site Advisor, for what i can guess its probably a website that you frequent that brought back the virus. Mc Afee Site Advisor tells you which sites are safe and it also goes further to block sites which have a high rate of spyware and adware among other

www.bitdefender.com for BitDefender program to get rid of virus

http://www.siteadvisor.com/ for virus protection while surfing online.

Symantec/Norton, Avast, AVG, McAfee & Kaspersky are all good anti virus software but only up to a certain limit. I tried all of those and none got rid of my MSN virus, they found it but couldn't do anything about the virus. So it was like they were telling me I had a problem which they cant fix. I used Bit Defender. It found the MSN virus and four others that Norton and all those trials i tried missed, and got rid of them. No need to format my hard drive and lose all my info.

Why download three when you can download one program and bit Defender DOES replaces missing codec and correct registry entries fyi to the person that says anti virus programs don't. Check the website for yourself before posting false information.

Hope I helped you today :-)

If it's not for XP antivirus or its variants, most probably you can have the malware detected and removed by running a free online scanner from any of these manufacturers:

http://hubpages.com/hub/Top-Free-Online-Virus-Scan

I'd suggest Bit Defender and one more to your preference. To make things easier, restart Windows after first scan. This will break the internal linking of the malware and facilitate the removal by the second scan.

It's not a virus it's a malicious codec which antivirus programs will NOT remove, use the following free programs:

Remove Restrictions Tool:

http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/RRT-Remove-Ristrictions-Tool-Download-68926.html

Download from Softpedia Secure Download (RO), install, run and check all boxes then click Apply and then reboot. This tool re-enables what codecs/viruses have disabled.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?hhTest=1.

Download, install, update and select Full Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

If your desktop has changed or icons are missing also use:

Wallpaper Hijacker Removal Tool:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/Wallpaper_Hijack_Remover_d4816.html

Note: You should hit all "Repair" buttons even though it may not say "Found!" This will fix a wallpaper hijack everytime if all repair buttons are pressed.

Format u'r comp once again and delete the partitions while formating and later recreate it. This will completely remove everything that's there in the comp and also the virus
