Is there anyway I can reset my administrator password? I have an old white mac. I don't know the name or whatever it's just a white mac with a webcam haha. It's a few years old. Anyway, I foolishly can't remember my password and don't know how to reset it. It says "insert the Mac OS X install media" but I don't know what that is nor do I have it. I'd like to avoid having to go to the apple store to have them reset it or whatever. Any ideas?

hack your admin rights by shutting down your computer and pressing command + S while starting up then you will get a black page with white text on it at the buttom of the page type these commands hitting the enter key after each one of them

Mount -uw /

rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone

shutdown -h now

then you will be able to make a new admin account make sure you put a password on it otherwise it won't be an admin account then you can reset the password of your old account

I heard from a security blog that a charger can help you remember your password because it'll have the password hint in it. I'm not sure if it applies to yours, but it's worth a shot.

Try this...try hitting enter without typing anything

If that doesn't work try: admin

If that doesn't work type 4 zeros 0000
