PCTools products do get good reviews. The good thing is they have free versions of their products. They work great. Spyware Doctor from the Google pack is a must. I highly recommend it. I bought Webroots Spysweeper and spyware doctor finds stuff spysweeper does not. Having both is a perfect combo and I recommend running two anti-spyware products.

PCTools Threatfire - Malware Protection

This free tool makes your current anti-virus better. Definite Download

The Google Pack includes a free starter edition of Spyware Doctor.

You can do an online scan for viruses and spyware for free from the major vendors. Some of these require Internet Explorer to run because of Active-X

ANTI-SPYWARE INFORMATION

Its good to run two anti-spywares even if some extra resources are taken.

SuperAntiSpyware does an excellent job. AVG's full version gets great reviews.

Anti-Spyware for a cost.

Personally I bought Webroot's Spysweeper, their product is great and well worth the money. Watch Best Buy ads because sometimes it goes on sale for $10 to $15.

ANTI-VIRUS INFORMATION

There are free anti-virus scanners availble. They work well. I like AVG and PCTools anti-viruses the best of the free anti-virus programs.

If you are not willing to spend money it is good to have some kind of anti-virus software

avg

avast

Avira AntiVir

This is my recommendation for anti-virus. Free are good, but they are not as accurate as the top paid anti-virus software

Try using a system restore disc. It usually comes with every computer. If you don't know where it is, you can always go to the store where you bought it from and ask them about it. Also, if you have documents that you don't want lost, you can get a portable USB cable plug-in hardrive called My Book from a computer store, like Best Buy, I reccomend. Also, there's this program called Fix It Utilities 7 (out .now, next year it will be Fix It Utilities 8). It's a very good program. My dad had an unhealable virus and was going to do a system restore. But, then turned to Fix It Utilities. Good luck!!

You have to get your original software discs and do a recovery or reformat program while choosing to keep your files. Then you have to reinstall printer and internet software. It's a pain but it's the only way to really fix this problem. Also, one time turn off "system restore" and then turn it on again to clear out a huge amount of crap (actually I just leave it off all the time and it's never been a problem. The first time I did it it cleared 9GB!)

get rid of avg , it is a bad anti virus and install avira www.free-av.com , now turn your computer off and turn it on

again and right before the windows xp logo pops up tap F8

really fast and select safe mode , and once you are in safe

mode scan the computer with avira . Also make sure that avira

is fully updated.

AnswerMEthis, is right, but like to add try instead Avast. I'm not with avast as a Company, but I use it as an end user. I was contemplating on "AVG", but from experience when it was 5x - 6x, I did not like it. It felt not productive my assumption besides look it has not changed.

we have similar situations, it happened to me too!~! SYSTEM RESTORE YOUR PC!!! I rebooted mine and the virus was gone!! System Restore your pc to the date before the virus infiltrated your computer!!

or buy an Antivirus software!! it's expensive, but it will save the THOUSANDS of pictures saved onto your computer

what you can do is go to your start menu and try to put your computer to an earlier date. That would be in system restore. If that doesn't work go to the Norton website and they will show you how to remove it. Your probably going to have to start your computer in safe mode to remove it. Good LUck!
