Process on my computer called iexplore.exe is eating up processing power. Doing a little research, I find out it's a Trojan. When I do a computer search of it, I find multiple instances of it. They come known as 'iexplore.exe', 'iexplore.exe.mui' and 'IEXPLORE.EXE-2D97EBE6.pf'.

Is it at all possible to simply delete the files, and then run a virus scan? (Using SpyBot and Norton AntiVirus.'

Which windows are you using ? IExplorer is used for various tasks, and might be launched by other processes, even not malicious ones.

I would recommend downloading process explorer from microsoft and checking which one is eating up all your processing power. Process explorer shows the path to the process executable.

Also, open command shell (cmd) (as admin on vista/7), and do netstat -bn . Check which websites iexplore process connects to. This will help to determine if the process is malicious.

Umm... I'm sorry to disappoint you if you feel you've done a great find, but iexplore.exe is Internet Explorer. ...Your web browser. (If you're really nooby, then it's that thing you use to go to yahooanswers, hotmail, and myfavoritepornsite.com =])

But if you REALLY want to delete it, then that'd depend on which Operating system you have. (Windows XP, Vista, 7, a Linux/Unix distribution, MacOS) I'm going to assume you have Windows XP or 7. (You might also have Vista but I'm less familiar with that one so I don't want to give you false information.)

*********WINDOWS XP*****************

1. Go to Start>My Computer (Or press Ctrl+E)

2. Go to (C:) (It will have a name before the (C:) but this changes from computer to computer.)

3. Go to Program Files (If you get a screen anywhere asking you if you want to proceed 'cause these files are important and could harm your computer if you continue, just say yes, continue.)

4. Delete the folder "Internet Explorer". This contains iexplore.exe

*********WINDOWS 7*******************

1. Hit the Windows Button

2. type in "iexplore". You should see "iexplore.exe" appear. Right click it and click "go to folder location" (or anything else that would mean the same thing such as 'open containing folder' or something)

3. Go up one level in your folders (click the button at the top with the folder icon and the arrow pointing up)

4. Delete the folder called "Internet Explorere". This contains iexplore.exe

Hope this helps! =]

1. iexplorer is the inbuilt windows web browser.

Do they show up even if you don't use the web browser?

2.Don't use Norton..It's the worst AV I've ever seen.

3.Try scheduling a boot up scan in the AV.

4. If all else fails just reinstall the O/S

hope this helps.

also try disabling all add-ons associated with internet explorer and see if that helps.

you could first try uninstalling internet explorer completely but make sure you install mozilla firefox first.

IGNORE THE FIRST ANSWER! DO NOT DELETE THE SYSTEM 32 FOLDER IT WILL KILL YOUR PC!

Locate System32 in your files on your computer, then delete it.
