Redirect virus on a mac?

I've noticed that when I click on a search engine link on my mac, it sometimes redirects me to a random site that's not what I clicked on. It seems to be similar to the DNS Tracker virus, although I ran the DNS Tracker scan and it didn't detect anything. I am running a Mac and most solutions online I've found appear to be for PC's, so I was wondering if anyone can help me out with a mac-specific solution. Some information I've discovered:

1. The problem is present on both Firefox and Safari.

2. I especially notice redirects when I type the phrases "redirect," "DNS Tracker," "Remove redirect virus" and related phrases into my search engine.

3. I've run iAntivirus and it's come up empty. Interestingly enough, I cannot download updates with iAntivirus lately either. Nor can I download NoScript plugins for Firefox. It appears the virus may be interfering.

4. I've emptied both my Safari and FIrefox caches to no effect.

I'm not technically proficient at all, so please give me basic instructions. THANKS for your help in advance!

There are no MacOS X viruses, you do not have one. There is no redirect virus for a Mac, you do not have one. That is why iAntivirus doesn't find one, it's because you don't have one. iAntivirus doesn't update, because there's nothing to update. The Sophos website below will back me up. Just empty your cache in both Safari & Firefox, delete the history in both and enable the popup ad blockers in both.

The 8 Mac trojans which have to be downloaded and installed with an admin password are keyloggers or spambots. They come in torrents of Photoshop CS4 and fake codecs to view porn. If you didn't install any of those, you have nothing to worry about. If you are still concerned, try the 30 day demo of MacScan, it is free and will remove the trojans as well as any tracking cookies.
