Is it true that window live hotmail's deleting accounts?!!?

Okay. I need advice.

I just got an e-mail with the following:

'This Email is from Hotmail Customer Care and we are sending it to every Hotmail Email User Accounts Owner for safety. we are having congestions due to the anonymous registration of Hotmail accounts so we are shutting down some Hotmail accounts and your account was among those to be deleted. We are sending this email to you so that you can verify and let us know if you still want to use this account. If you are still interested please confirm your account by filling the space below.Your User name, password, date of birth and your country information would be needed to verify your account. '

I know that NORMALLY these are sent through chain mails, and don't mean anything, but this wasn't in a chain mail. I don't know what to do because it's asking for my password and username details.

It's probably just a scam, right?! Because the e-mail sending it is '[e-mail]' and that doesn't sound very professional. But then when you click reply, it says the sender is hotmailupgraders or something like that.

Help?!

It's a fraudulent email, simply forward it to the Hotmail reporting email address for spam and phishing emails. Also send it to the Federal Trade Commission for their records.

Someone is trying to steal your Hotmail account so they can use it to send spam or to attempt to send email containing links to malware or crimeware sites.



I find the wording hilarious -



"...we are having congestions due to the anonymous registration of Hotmail accounts ..."



Hotmail has had problems with spurious anonymous registrations for many years as people would create them to send out spam. So now those brats are trying to steal existing accounts - yours.

Do NOT do what they say! simply delete this! If it were real than the hotmail website would be talking about it on the website. They would not just randomley have to deleted accounts! These people are most likely hackers, they want your Account name which seems normal, but if they were real than they would NOT need your password! Do not beleive this, just delete it and warn some hotmail friends about it!
