I think my computer is hacked into, is there any program or anything I can use to be sure if my computer is hacked or not?

Please help
& Thanks

P.S - Here is some information:

Before I had only 2 accounts, one named ' Dennis ' and the Administrator one. The Dennis account had a blue desktop background and many icons removed, it didn't even have the run, log off and shut down icons in the start menu. It also said Virus Alert! In the taskbar near the clock. I had to use the Administrator account for several weeks. Its been 2 weeks since I used my new account since I deleted the old Dennis account. Everything seems okay but I am still worried, I think I'm hacked. Before all of this happened I downloaded a crack for Scrabble, when I opened it, thats when I got the virus. I've tried system restore and I've tried many other things. So how can I be sure that I haven't been hacked? Is there any program I can use to check if my computer has been hacked into?

hey there is no way to check if you have been hacked sorry. but the symptoms that you are describing tell me that you have a virus.

there is no "program" that i know of that can prevent you from getting hacked into. there are steps that you can take to prevent it.

first lets get rid of the viruses. what type of antivirus software do you have? if your using norton id get rid of it because it causes more problems then it fixes. if you do have it i suggest downloading the norton removal tool (google it) run it and it will get rid of norton for you. then i recomend getting avg free (link at the bottom). once you do have it install it plus updates. also get spybot and adaware (links at the bottom) download and install plus updates. *** take the ethernet plug out of your computer(internet cable) and boot into safe mode. taking out the cable prevents your computer from letting the virus do what it does. and booting into safe mode just makes the scan faster. once in safe mode run your antivirus software. once its done make sure it cleans the viruses. keep running the scan until it gets rid of them all (this might take awhile sorry) onec the antivirus software cant find anything anymore do spybot and adaware. again run until it cant find anything.

now that we got rid of the intrusions we can focus on adding security to your computer

does your computer go directly? or does it go through a firewall? if you dont have a firewall GET ONE! they are pretty cheap. Ill add some good ones in sources. this will protect your computer from hacking (still might happen, but your computer wil be considerably safer!) i personally recomend a sonicwall (i am a reseller, sorry for the promo scheme lol) but seriously sonicwall is the highest rated firewall for small and medium businesses!

you can also go to your local computer store and ask them for a cheap home firewall

another thing that you can do is add passwords to your profiles.

if you still think that your computer was hacked i recomend changing all your passwords to your online accounts: emails, online banking, facebook etc.

i also recomend cleaning your registry to help clean any foot holds left by the malicious software. i recomend ccleaner (link at the bottom)

*** word of warning i highly recomend getting and installing a physical firewall before going back online again***

anything else feel free to ym me!

Hello,

Check here http://j.mp/1oh7Pdp if you want to get for free: Scrabble

I was fond of playing scrabble when I was young. I use to visit my neighbor since they own the board game. We would compete and try to outwit each other to win the game. Scrabble helps us to enrich our vocabulary and keeps us entertained at the same time.

It's a great game.

your computer still has the virus.

User Accounts are stored in this location:

C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME... BLAH...

System Files are stored:

C:\WINDOWS\....

If a virus were to attack the PC it would hide into the system files, not user account files.

to be sure though run go to Norton's website and run the free scanner to check. Worse comes to worse, you may need to re-install the Operating system to be sure its gone.
