I have a small office, with 15 PCs with Win Xp and a Windows 2008 Server in Workgroup. There are some folders in Server which all users have access to. Most of PC can access that folder freely. But about 4 nos PC when they try to access the Folder, its asking for username & password. After log-in and checking the "remember password' only they can access the folder. Every time they turn on the PC same thing happens. How to remove the authentication for these PCs.

There logged on as admin? The only security you have in a workgroup is share permissions someone needs to grant those in 2008. Honestly though I do not know why you are doing it like this because no one does it this way anymore. There is no need for you to even have a server. The files can be on any computer. You don't need 2008 server and I think its that extra security thats making you put the [password in.

pcs are a ingredient -- therefore they were designed with a purpose in innovations. What purpose are you planning on utilising this computing device for? which will answer your question as to it fairly is better. residing house windows 2003 may be utilized as a pc operating gadget, even if it is going to likely be extra expensive and performance compatibility topics residing house windows XP isn't a robust SERVER OS because it would not help each and each and every of the amenities/roles that Server 2003 does and may purely settle for 5 simultaneous connections to it. So case in element, in case you shared a folder, purely 5 shoppers might want to get admission to it jointly. residing house windows XP won't be able to be area Controller DHCP server WDS server WSUS server VPN server DNS server to call some also residing house windows XP residing house won't be able to be a member of a cyber web website. you could play video games on residing house windows 2003 and deploy DirectX etc. -- yet you could run into problems with some drivers/video games throwing up an blunders message indicating that they don't help that OS. some residing house anti-virus courses received't deploy on residing house windows Server 2003 and could require you to purchase their "business enterprise" version As for the gadget criteria -- they're actual a similar. residing house windows Server 2003 can run on some SLOWER machines then XP, yet no longer properly. So once you've an old computing device - perhaps 1GHz and 256MB RAM AND all you want to do is get admission to the internet from it.. then residing house windows Server 2003 may be better from a hardware attitude, yet from a cost attitude.. it is going to fee you extra. yet otherwise, if the computing device can run XP, it might want to run 2003 no longer unavoidably any incorrect way round. As for the only released residing house windows Server 2008 -- assume if the pc can run VISTA, then it might want to run Server 2008.

Unjoin and rejoin the workgroup or domain. ;) You may even want to remove it from the server all together including Active Directory and DHCP.
