I have a website (music) and I have quite a long mailing list to which I send a newsletter every 14 days. My maintainer told me that he received an abuse signal. I've checked the address and it's not one of my contacts, therefore impossible to remove. I sent an e-mail to that address but have had no response.
The signal was supposedly due to the fact that this person was still receiving my newsletter after having already asked a numerous amount of times to be removed from the mailing list.
Seeing as my only form of advertisement for the moment is my newsletter, I am forced to send it. (if I ever want to get somewhere..)

What would happen if this person receives another newsletter and once again signals me?!?

Could my website be blocked?

could anything else happen??

Please answer!!

My hypothesis is that some member of your mailing list is using a forwarding address or remailer of some sort. They may not even remember having set it up. If you can get a copy of the message that the complaintant alleges to have received, you could open up the email header information and see what the original address was.

Short of that, I'm not sure what you can do. Keep copies and detailed notes of everything you've done to resolve the situation and copy your maintainer on all messages so you can clearly show a good faith attempt to comply with the request.

To answer your other questions, your mailing service could be blocked if you can't sort this out. It is unlikely that your entire website would be blocked and even less likely that its contents would be deleted but you'd have to read the fine print of your service agreement with your host to be sure. Regardless, you should back up your content onto some external media - that's just good security practice.

have a back up of your mail lists on either a memory stick or hard copy

If your server suffered a fatal crash this would be lost

This person could be recieving the Emial via someone else

They may be on someone else's lists - and recieve your newsletter because it relates to something different they enquired about

You need to speak to someone with a background in IT

You could be suspended if complaints continue

Ask your server for help

Your domain will end up on a blacklist, no more emails will be accepted by any major server. You MUST NOT send any more emails to anyone who does not want them. And you may have made a big mistake sending the same person another email!

Your provider could be forced to shut down your site. Take the person off the list.

I would do the same thing rather than being bothered by unwanted advertisement.

they probably will just put it in their junk mail after a while.
