In Safari: Safari menu > Reset Safari. This will clear the cache, delete the entire history, delete any previous locations listed in the location (URL) bar and delete any previous searches in the Google search box. Quit out of Safari (Safari menu > Quit) for the reset to take effect. Firefox: will probably have a delete history command in its menu bar too. Next time use Safari in privacy mode (to enable it: Safari Menu > Privacy mode). This will automatically remove all traces, just like a full reset, for your activies in the browser. The difference though is that history and all the other things will stay the same to the point where you enabled privacy mode. After you quit out of Safari it is as if you had never been there for that session. Note: Mac OS X does not have a registry (so don't go looking for one to clean). You will only need to do registry cleaning if you installed Windows on your Mac.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

If you're using Safari, just go to "history" in the pull-down menus, the select "Clear History". It's that simple. If you're using a browser other than Safari, you'll probably need to go to preferences and find the history.

Tools, internet options (or options/something along those lines), clear history, or private data

You should also delete the History.plist file in Home > Library > Safari and delete the cookies in Safari menu > Preferences > Security > Show Cookies

Go to "Safari" on the top left side of your screen, then go to "reset Safari".

Gets rid of everything.
