Well, if you share your pc with your roommate, I would suggest putting passwords on all of your sites, like yahoo, all of your e-mails, and private things you don't want your roommate to be able to access. Don't write your passwords down anywhere! Your roommate won't be able to get into anything personal that way.

I presume you are not publicising ur passwords and ur roommate is using some spyware to log key strokes made by you. If that is the situation, use activescan (Panda) or housecall (Trend Micro) and delete the spyware. If u r using Windows XP, download Microsoft antispy beta and delete the spyware. Subsequently, you can try changing the passwords (preferably on a computer which you can completely trust) and follow the advise given by other users. Hope this will solve ur problem.

Open my computer and select users set up an account that only your roomate can use. Set up one for yourself and make yours password protected as well as your roomates. Set yourself as administrator so you can lock out certain functions. Like downloading stuff unless you approve. Just be sure to click the start button and log off before you quit that way your roomate cannot snoop on you.

i think make a password for it right a way will put you in an embarrassing situation , depends on the relation between you and him/her , however , what is better is to download a program that make passwords for specific folders at your pc , to arrange your folders in a way that makes him/her feel what you want .... and day by day he will get the message ...
note : if he is one of those people who needs million of years to understand what you want , PUT A PASSWORD AND MAKE IT ABOUT 17 CHARACTER SO THAT WHEN YOU TYPE IT HE WILL REALISE HOW DUMB HE WAS
