when i go into the 'c:' drive in my PC i see two folders that i am unsure where they have come from. one folder is "3e3d2cd63c3da9ee4256fe9f0d2ee0" the other "c867d1336778700837" inside both folders is a "text document" each document is far to long to put on here to show you but i will paste a small section from each: (THE FIRST)=== Verbose logging started: 19/03/2007 21:24:08 Build type: SHIP UNICODE 3.01.4000.2435 Calling process: C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiexec.exe ===
MSI (c) (08:D0) [21:24:08:406]: Resetting cached policy values

(THE SECOND)=== Verbose logging started: 19/03/2007 17:24:14 Build type: SHIP UNICODE 3.01.4000.2435 Calling process: C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiexec.exe ===
MSI (c) (C0:A4) [17:24:14:234]: Resetting cached policy values
MSI (c) (C0:A4) [17:24:14:234]: Machine policy value 'Debug' is 0

what does all this mean?! is it a virus or hijack?!

thanks for taking your time to read

It's an error reporting message. Some time after an error system must have asked you whether to send error report & you might have accidently clicked send report. Simply delete those folders.

have you installed any new programs lately? msiexec.exe is the windows installer service program. It looks like whatever program you installed made a log of the installation. A log file of this sort would contain information of all the changes to registry values and what files the program installed and where they are located. I wouldn't worry about it, and if you don't want the log file delete it.

If you haven't installed any new programs lately that you know of, then do some virus checking.....'cause something made a log of changes.

They could be the MSO cache folders or folders for installation source of some software. It's a local copy of Microsoft Office's installation source, so you don't have to insert the CD when you add a feature.

The MSI that you have referenced is the installation LOG file for softwares. so you need not worry on it. If you recently installed any applications, try to check the time it was installed and that should sync with this folder last modified/accessed date.

For more information on MSO, refer to:

hi i am an IT Support in a Company here in Philippines. i already encountered that problem to one of the PC in the office. This is a virus and once you open it, you will observe that your pc will perform not good. Example, one of the software didn't function anymore. then you will encounter runtime error everytime you will open a program or software. and the worst, it will affect your computer internet connection or network connection if you are connected in a LAN. I suggest to format your PC mst especially the drive which is affected.

i suggest u first dwnload a anti-virus and spyware software like windows defender from download.com and scan it first and open it and if it is unrealeted to any of ur programs jus delete it or jus leave it. its not going to cause any harm (if u scan it and theres no problem).
