My wife ordered the "Anti Virus Pro" after our computer suffered a Trojan attack this past weekend. I had my Computer tech run a deep scan on the Gate Way Laptop but as he was running the scan in DOS Mode, the scan hit a bad spot in the memory and was forced to shut the scan down. This happened a total of 6 times! My wife is going to contact the credit cared company with the info on the fraudulent software purchase but I am at a loss on how to get this %&^%*% off of my computer! Any suggestions????

Go to the Tech Support Guy website, register as a member on their forum, and start a thread in the Security forum and ask for help. They will help you clean your computer free of charge.

I had something similar a while back... The best thing to do is load the specific malware program that is infecting your PC into a search engine adding "+ remove", that will chuck out several programs which will scan your PC, the registry and delete it. I don't want to suggest the program I used, because your virus may be slightly different to the one I had and therefore my cure won't necessarily work on your PC. It'll take an hour or so, but the good news is that most decent malware removal progams are free. Then I recommend loading AVIRA anti-virus (free) and scanning your PC with that. Again time consuming and boring, but necessary. Again google Avira and that should throw up a link or two.

Antivirus Pro is a rogue software application designed to trick users into buying a fake product by using scare tactics

Note: You will have to change your credit card # since you just gave it to criminals. Also dispute the Antivirus Pro charge

To remove Antivirus Pro

Download and run

http://download.norman.no/public/Norman_Malware_Cleaner.exe

and

Download, update and run

The free versions can detect and remove

Malwarebytes AntiMalware

http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

and

SuperAntiSpyware

http://www.superantispyware.com/

Scan in Safe Mode(press f8 rapidly while booting and select safe mode)

You could also try using the Dr. Web Cureit live cd to remove malware from a CD

You have to run a boot time virus scan.

Give Dr. Web Curit! a try. It's a compiled stand alone virus scanner/cleaner. Can be ran from a USB flash drive. No installation required.

Or the Dr. Web Live CD. You can boot the computer with it and run the Dr. Web anti-virus outside of windows.

I Know that this may look kind of long - but; This is only an attempt to save you time and frustration. I am out to save the world from these viruses and keep people from the headaches that I had to go through to find "What Works".

READ!!! And spread the word of your success!!

If you have a virus on your computer this will surely remove the virus and all of your future worries concerning them.

Scan your computer using Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner at the microsoft website.

The Scan will remove the virus, but you still won't be with protected from future virus attacks on your system unless you have reliable antivirus protection on your system. But here's another great thing;

Microsoft now also gives you a 90 day/ 3 mth trial of their Live Protection if you want to try out the full featured real-time protection.

Either way - to get rid of any viruses, trojans, spyware, adware, etc.. that shouldn't be on your computer:

Go to www.microsoft.com

Security & Updates tab click for Home Users

Next, Under the Security Products bar located to the right of the screen, select Windows Live OneCare or Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner.

If you select Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner this will run a quick scan on your pc and remove any viruses, spyware, trojans, etc. that you may have on your computer.

If you select Windows Live OneCare this will enable you to download the free trial of the program by clicking on Free Trial (unless you want to purchase right now - if that's the case press buy now).

(NOTE: You will need to uninstall all other antivirus or firewall programs that you currently have on your computer in order to install Microsoft's Windows Live OneCare.)
