With users that don't practice safe computing: No

There's no such thing as immunity from viruses as new viruses are written every day by hackers. Microsoft has to constantly release update patches to protect Vista from the new threats, but even then they are only reacting after some new virus has appeared.

Hello,

(ANS) Absolutely NOT!! thats a complete myth, why? because windows vista is Microsoft's latest version of windows OS it is just the latest target or challenge for the virus writers & hackers to attack and so that makes it more vulnerable to infection than previous windows versions.

**Past versions of windows are too some degree less vulnerable now, well relatively speaking.

**In fact Vista is just as prone to past viruses, worms, trojens horse infections etc, and can still be infected.

**YES! Microsoft have done quite a good job at hardening internal windows defenses in vista but actually these techniques have been standard practice in Linux & Apple for ages. i.e. you cannot reinvent the wheel so too speak.

**Vista is still in its infancy and so still has many faults, floors, holes & vulnerabilities & glitches which have not been found or plugged. This is exactly what MS service packs (at there best) are designed to fix, in fact they are also sometimes called hot-fixes too.

**Just because you have vista shouldn't lull you into a false sense of security, you still need to run anti virus software & anti spyware or anti malware scanners.

Free Virus Protection: * AVG Free 8.0 or 8.5 * Malwarebytes * AVAST Fake AntiVirus Programs * AntiVirus 360 * AntiVirus 2009 Install a real program and you will be fine. This is supposed to hit on 4-1... Have you heard of an April Fool's joke before??

no computer is immune from viruses with the correct security installed you are more protected from online viruses.

An operating system is only as secure as the programs running on it.

Even if there are no known vulnerabilities with the operating system if you have a vulnerable program running or a mis configured program then the operating system is vulnerable.

Even operating systems such as Linux are vulnerable to worms and virii. No matter what some Linux users profess.

NO !! I heard that windows XP was safe when it first came on the scene. If you download or visit a site that leaves a virus on you pc, then what ever windows you have is not going to stop it.

Often times, yes, it's immune for viruses for people who don't value much their computer's security.

nothing is immune to viruses

Don't fall for the hype, nobody has managed to make a virus free platform, and it certainly isn't going to be done by Microsoft, who just shovels out material that they mostly bought out from other people. To even begin to make a truly virus resistant platform they would have to begin from the ground up, and I don't think they started over for Windows Vista, there was just too much vulnerable code from earlier versions. There is no chance in hell that any version of Windows will even really be virus resistant much less virus immune.

No it is not nor is any Computer operating system.

Simple answer is no

lol where'd you hear that?

I know 3 people who've gotten viruses on Vista.

Want something immune from viruses?

Get Linux (It's free)

There are literally only like 10 viruses that even exist for it. And to get them, you'd have to be logged on as root (Which isn't necessary and is stupid to do)

It talks about the first virus that were released in public targeting Vista.

Scary huh?

Viruses make money for guys like McAfee and Norton, I believe viruses will not cease to exist.

Linux is much better against viruses.

Good lord, no.

But I figure, virus writers probably assume you're suffering enough with Vista, that they don't need to write viruses!
