Question:
WinPC antivirus removal?
2009-05-21 06:14:10 UTC
I wasn't on my computer for a few days and I came home to it being downloaded on. Weird to me because of my firewall and protectors, so someone won't admit they touched something, but it's w/e. What I need to know is how to remove it from my computer, that spyware doctor only scans it but doesn't remove it w/o pay and I'd rather not.

I have spybot search and destroy but it won't start, won't open and doesn't even show up on task manager. I scanned my computer with avg 8.0 but it didn't remove the winpc antivirus. I'm positive spybot would but I've already uninstalled and installed it twice and it still won't run. I could try to manually remove it not being completely ignorant but I'd rather not seeing as I'm no expert.

Any and all help is appreciated.

You don't have to reformat your hardrive or install new OS. Follow the guide below to remove WinPC antivirus.

What should you do to remove rogue antispyware, Spyware, Trojans and malware:

Download, install, update and scan your computer system with Spyhunter and AVG. You have to delete everything that they will find. If this fails to completely remove the malware/spyware/Trojan Boot your pc in saffe mode and scan then. All the software below is safe to use.

Spyhunter:

AVG:

If you want to protect your computer system in the future you need to use antivirus software and firewall. You should also start using Firefox 3 if you are browsing with IE because it is much safer.

I had this problem today. I found your question here while I was trying to find out why AVG didn't stop it. I downloaded some software called Malawarebytes anti malware, found it in google, it automatically updated after installation. Then I restarted my computer but pressed F8 a few times while it started and selected Safe Mode. I opened Malaware and ran a full scan. Then I selected to remove the items it found. After this I rebooted my machine and it was gone. Hope this works for you.

Stole from another poster:

Remove any Virus protection already installed.

Start > Control Panel > System > System Restore > Turn off system restore.... These will be infected and most security programs are prohibited from getting in here by microsoft.

DL and run in this order:

http://www.malwarebytes.com

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUB...

(instructions here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix... )

http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/setupeng... Home Edition, FREE

(During the install, it will ask about a BOOT time scan, yes)

(Register, which is FREE and get the 1 year KEY)

Win PC Antivirus (WinPC Antivirus) is the first malware that we have detected to emanate from Win PC Defender. In addition, the downloading links on Win PC Defender are either redirected to Win PC Antivirus links or simply give Win PC Antivirus instead of Win PC Defender. You need to remove Win PC Antivirus and Win PC Defender in order to get rid of the alerts and bothering scans of the malware. However, the ads by the malware are not the maim reason to get rid of Win PC Antivirus. We need to note the tactic of Win PC Antivirus to slow computer down and disorder OS and legitimate programs. The tactic is aimed on frightening users into buying the malware, but poses a real challenge to your system and data safety. It is quite easy to identify the infection of Win PC Antivirus, but the removal of Win PC Antivirus may be rather complicated. Win PC Antivirus generates scan window and numerous alerts entitled Win PC Antivirus and leading to the online purchase form of the malware. Removing Win PC Antivirus requires detecting all its hidden and corresponding Registry entries.

WinPC Antivirus is a very dangerous rogue antispyware program. I would remove it as soon as possible. It can steal your passwords and ruin your CPU. The program I used is available http://www.spyware-fix.net
