A firewall is a hardware or software device that protects your computer form unauthorized access - basically it keeps the hackers out.
Firefox is an internet browser, just like Internet Explorer is an internet browser. The reason why Firefox was suggested is because it has add ons that can help protect you from hackers, spy ware, ad ware and other malicious programs by blocking them.
A firewall and Firefox are to completely different things that aren't even related. But both can help protect your computer.

Hmmm, I wonder if you quite expected so many answers!
Basically a Firewall helps prevent access to your computer from things like hackers and malicious software. Firefox is a browser very much like Internet Explorer. Different people will have their own opinions on which is better. Firefox is meant to be faster and safer but there is no reason why you can't use both IE and Firefox when ever you choose. Don't however make the mistake a lot of people do of thinking because Firefox is safer you can do without an Anti Virus. Always have an anti virus installed no matter how safe the browser is. (AVG or AVAST are good ones and are free)

A firewall is an integrated collection of security measures designed to prevent unauthorized electronic access to a networked computer system. It is also a device or set of devices configured to permit, deny, encrypt, decrypt, or proxy all computer traffic between different security domains based upon a set of rules and other criteria.
Mozilla Firefox is a free and open source web browser descended from the Mozilla Application Suite and managed by Mozilla Corporation. Firefox had 21% of the recorded usage share of web browsers as of December 2008, making it the second-most popular browser in current use worldwide, after Internet Explorer.[

No!
A firewall is a piece of security software designed to prevent unauthorised traffic passing to, or from, the Internet. It can protect against hack attempts, and can also help to prevent rogue pieces of software (such as viruses or spyware) from accessing the Internet.
Firefox is a web browser, similar to Internet Explorer but it's much better - it's more secure, has more features, and protects your online privacy better.
What a firewall and Firefox have in common is that together they'll make your Internet browsing experience much safer. You really need both of them.

Firefox is a web browser. It is used to connect and view websites. and its different from a firewall because the firewall is for protecting your computer against hackers, worms, and other infections
here is the latest version of Firefox
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
its faster then internet explorer and there are many Add-ons for security and other stuff , a good one is NoScripts https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/recommended/cat:12
also don't put too many cause it may slow down.

Firefox is a web browser; it serves the same main purpose as Internet Explorer.
A firewall monitors the network ports on your computer, and can alert you if something bad tries to get in or send something out.
