Why do i keep getting 100's of message from mailer-daemon?

Question

I woke up this morning and I had 631 messages from Mailer-daemon, postmaster, and other message error emails. I did not send any of the emails but no matter how many i delete, i keep receiving more and more... I ran a virus scan using windows live OneCare but it does not catch anything. HELP! I cant stop the emails and they all have attachments on them. I need to get this virus off my computer...

I already changed my email password but it wont stop sending me them.

I know it's a mass mailer virus but i cant remove it for some reason...

You have a real nasty Trojan.



Have you got Norton? If so it has taken over ccApp.exe which belongs to Norton. So far I have not found a cure in any antivirus or antispyware application including Smitfraud. However, I have found a work around. Download Comodo firewall and disable ccApp.exe from running. It is no good disabling it via the Task Manager as it will just pop back. If you remove Norton it will still be active.

I suggest AVG Anti-Virus and also Avast Anti-Virus coupled with Zone Alarm. Free editions of all three should meet your needs. Next, after installing and running the scan feature with each of these, see if the problem has been resolved. If not, then your computer may not be infected. It is possible that other computers are sending the mail and spoofing your e-mail address as their From: address. In this case, pray that they stop soon and create a mail filter in Outlook Express or whatever mail client you are using and filter all e-mails with the offending subject lines to be delivered directly to your deleted items folder. This way, you will never even see the messages. Such attacks usually cease after a few days. Consult your ISP if the attack continues for more than 2 - 3 days.

If your OS is Windows XP, then try using "System Restore" to return to a point before the mass mailer began sending.

Check your e-mail settings. Have you ever tried to restrict yourself from recieving e-mails??. there are options for you under each mail that you recieve. please under that very mail

that keeps bothering you , select to block that mail NOT to ever enter into your inbox or simply trace the source of that unwanted mail then block or ban it from reaching you. some of these messages could be results of failed file attachments meant to be sent by you the user ....read user guides... Got that ???

To help you with your problem i would delete them and if you get more report them as spam.
