Two ideas,

Just let your sister run with another id, all your systems will be safe,

Or Rightclick on folder, Properties, Security, Advanced and then set your policy as you like.

There is no provision in Windows itself to password protect individual folders.

The most secure way to protect your sensitive files (and expensive computer) is to password protect your ENTIRE Windows account, allowing no one else access to it. Just go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Change an account. After you set-up a password then choose to make your folders private.

Now, if you must let anyone else use your PERSONAL computer (not recommended), you should set up a Guest Account for them with limited privledges. Go to Start > Control Panel > User accounts > pick an account to change > Guest. Not only will a Guest Account keeps your data safe from prying eyes, your computer will also be more secure as the limited privledge Guest account will not allow the inadvertant installation or download of any programs by others. Nor will they be able to screw-up your settings!

Or just tell your sister to buy her own damn computer!

Good luck.

I had same element to hide my folders reason I had some person stuff on my computing gadget, so what i've got executed develop into that I acquire utility caled WinRar - packing/unpacking utility. I upload there my MPG record and packed it using advance selection, and upload pasword to the record/folder. So the subsequent time you will attempt to unpuck it the pessowrod would be recuqared. in case you will forget approximately you password than you are able to say stable purchase to you record or folder. it truly is imposiable to crack the password except you're Hacker.

I don't have Vista but on XP you just right-click the Desktop > New > Compressed (Zipped) Folder. Then open it click "File" up on the left, and give it a password. You may have to put some files in there before you password it.

Now to be even more secure...do the same thing again and put the 1st one in the 2nd one.

Now to be even more secure...mark them as "Hidden".

Go for it.......:-)

Give her a separate account, hide the files and then use http://www.system-protect.com/ to protect them and your system.
