Security Master AV trial version has suddenly appeared on my computer. It keeps popping up and being annoying. I have tried clicking quit but that does nothing. I've also tried searching my computer for "Security Master AV" but there were no results. I can't find this program anywhere yet it is still here? And at the same time Security Master AV showed up, my normal antivirus program (Symantec) stopped working and has an error code. According to SM AV I have viruses, I tried getting rid of them with Symantec but it didn't open and I tried getting rid of them with SM AV and all it did was take me to the website to subscribe. How do I get rid of it and get Symantec working again?

It is a rogue antivirus, that is promoted by trojans. It is more than likely that you do not have the program itself, but just bunch of trojans showing popups. Everyting Security master AV shows is false.

You can remove it by using Spyware Doctor or malwarebytes, or manually : http://www.2-viruses.com/remove-security-master-av

Sometimes These kind of things come up with any other programs as a package. Remember if u had installed something recently.

Recommendations:

1.Go To System Restore and Restore Before Any Recently Installed Program (around a day before this thing popped up 4 da first time.)..if not gone then....

2.Make a BOOT SCAN with your Anti-Virus Program.(and remove all the possible threats.)

3.Go To Folder Options and Show all Hidden Files and Folders.

4.Search For the Thing.(Also Try Task Manager > Processes > End Process (of Security Master AV,when it pops up.)

5.If Still The Thing Doesnt Go Away, Then I Would Suggest You To Call Your Computer Engg. and If Possible Format it.

6.Next Time...Stay Safe and Happy By Using The Following Programs:

Suggestions:

1.- AVAST 5 - will Protect Totally From Viruses and Trojans, Worms.( Its Better Cause its Light Weight and Free ,yet Provides Very Good Protection.)

2.- Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - supports Avast in Protection and also its the Best.

3.- CCleaner - will cleanup all unwanted trash, browser cache and cookies and all and also fix some registry errors.

4.- Abexo Free Registry Cleaner - Free But the Best Registry Cleaner, Errors will be Gone and Fast P.C.

5.- TuneUp Utilities 2010 - Total Computer Maintainance.

Best Of Luck!

TYSON.
