I wouldn't! A lot of times, if you try to run two anti-virus applications on your computer, they can conflict and not provide any protection at all.

Not to mention that running two anti-virus apps can slow your system down.

Now, Anti-spyware is a different matter! It is fine to run two or more Anti-spyware apps. As a matter a fact, you're better off having two or more anti-spyware apps. If one app doesn't catch the sucker, the other might!

Just remember to keep your anti-virus and anti-spyware updated!

The people that answered yes - they are wrong. Almost all popular anti-virus software attempts to use the same logical memory addresses when they do their scanning. If a second program comes in and trys to use the same memory space that the first anti-virus program uses, it can (and does) cause all kind of strange memory behavior.

I have seen this happen so often, that when I am troubleshooting a PC that is just exhibiting 'strange' behavior - (like microsoft files that can't be saved, even though the MS applications otherwise seem to work fine) the FIRST thing I look for are multiple anti-virus programs running. More often than not, that is exactly what the problem is. When I un-install the first program, everything then works fine.

This seems expecially true of Norton AV and McAffee - they do not play well together on the same machine. I'm not sure that is by accident either.

Do NOT run 2 anti-viruses on one computer at the same time. They will not only slow down you computer to a snail's pace, they will "fight" each other to scan every file that you access.

This can cause a major conflict leaving you with less protection, not more.

If you need a second opinon or simply a second on-demand scanner for occasional use, I would suggest using a good on-line scanner.

There is no need to un-install your current protections before using it.

Scan for virus, worms, dialers, etc. and remove (free online scan, no download) with BitDefender's Online Scanner

Good luck.

Yes you can, and i advise it - more protection you have the less chance of getting a virus!!

I recommend AVG too, free and very good for protection.
