I have Windows XP Version 2002
I have a folder in my exterior hard drive that wont delete! Everytime I try it says "Cannot delete (folder): directory is not empty"

I tried deleting it. Renaming it and deleting it. Moving it. None of them work.
I tried to delete it in Safe Mode....nothing.
And I tried unlocker, said the same thing.

Can anybody please help me!!!!

I assume you mean your external hdd. Open the folder and see what is in it. Try deleting the contents first. Close any program which may be using the files. Alternatively, you can download Glary Utility and use the file shredder.*

Edit: chkdsk /f has nothing to do with what you are trying to do. Download the software I gave you the link to and be done with it.

If you've ever been unable to delete a file in Windows, and can't figure out what program's using it, Unlocker is the solution. Have you ever seen these Windows error messages?

* Cannot delete folder: It is being used by another person or program

* Cannot delete file: Access is denied

* There has been a sharing violation.

* The source or destination file may be in use.

* The file is in use by another program or user.

* Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

Unlocker can help! Simply right-click the folder or file and select Unlocker. If the folder or file is locked, a window listing of lockers will appear. Simply click Unlock All and you are done!

To Download Unlocker press here http://www.filehippo.com/download_unlocker/

Make sure there aren't any hidden files and/or subfolders. To display hidden files and folders go to Control Panel, Folder Options, View Tab and select "Show Hidden Files and Folders". Click Apply, then click OK and reboot.

It would be helpful if we had some idea the name of the folder and its contents...or what software/programs it might contain ???
