not really its just a program that allows people to connect to your computer and make changes like if you have a problem you can send them an invitation to log on using remote connection and fix it for u

to disable windows remote connection in Windows xp

right click my computer

go to properties

select the remote tab

uncheck both boxes

----------

to disable any kind of remote connection download a good firewall program like zone alarm from http://www.zonealarm.com/

or use windows firewall

follow the steps above and under the same remote tab u will see a link for firewall settings, it will guide you and help u

Remote desktop connection is a feature that comes with windows 2000 and xp i believe. And it's just a program that enables you receive remote assistance in case you have any problem with your computer. In order for someone to connect to your computer a remote assistance session has to be previously set.. In order to know if your computer is receiving any remote desktop connections RIGHT CLICK on " My computer" then click on the remote tab, and 2 options should come up. They're self explanatory..

However if someone wants to get in your computer i doubt they will opt for windows remote assistance if they know what they're doing.
