Hi, my computer says that the firewall has been turned off by "group policy" and I am on a personal computer at home. I am unable to turn the firewall back on. I do have zone alarm though. Dose this mean that I have been hacked or did zone alarm turn if off do to conflict of interest? Thanks in advance. Oh, I have Windows xp. thanks

......just go to control panel then security then on firewall click on then save. If you cant do this, it means you're not an administrator, you log-in as guest. so log-in using your administrator account.....

The above answers are both wrong. Group Policy can only be accessed by the Administrator. When using Group Policy the Administrator can control who can log on, who has access to e-mail, who has access to the firewall. In XP you have 1200 Group Policys

You need to specify your service pack. Assuming that your Service pack is 2. Go to the control panel and click on Windows Firewall, there you could turn it on. If this doesn't solve your problem, then you should format your PC, and reinstall windows Xp. This also will solve your problem.
