Today when I got up and turned on my computer it took me to the safe modee/normal mode screen and I hit normal mode then after that it went to the loading screen and for a split second a blue screen popped up and my computer reset. I've tried safe mode, safe mode with network, safe mode with command prompt and none are working they all have the same result. Yesterday I had a virus warning of a Trojan downloader but Windows Defender said it was successful in deleting it when I tried. In the report it didn't say the virus was in a system file but I'm afraid it was and I deleted a system file in which case I'd need my xp disc but that's at my other house and I won't be going there for a while. Does anyone else have any solutions?

Do you have a XP Operating System disc?

1. when your computer is starting go to boot options or setup and make CD-ROM first boot priority.

2. Put the OS disc in your computer and it will say press any key to boot from CD. ( press any key )

3. It will start to load and do its thing, when you have some options that come up and it asks you say you want to Repair windows.

4. You will get a black screen ( like i giant command prompt ) Type in CHKDSK/R and let it run. After its complete and this could take a while.

See if you can start your computer. If you can start it back up your stuff and see if you can Reformat. Good luck !

well, if you deleted a system file, and you can't get access to your desktop, it will be impossible to reinstall windows XP without the installation CD I think.

maybe think the best thing you could do is send an e-mail (from the computer you asked the question) if someone from your other house could send the CD via a postal card/package

in case you may then unplug confusing force after removing cabinate and then back pug it in it may slove the challenge. in any different case its an endemic situation you may desire to format the equipment on bootable CD if your don't be attentive to approximately equipment and OS equipment then attempt first on .
