The are great free AV's which are:

1) Avast! Home Edition. (Has 6 shields)

2) Avira AntiVir

3) AVG Free

For paid AV's:

1) Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7 (Recommended)

2) ESET NOD32

I also suggest that you download McAfee site advisor which will give you information about good and bad sites...It's simply an add-on to your IE or Firefox browser.

Download it from here:

Download all AV's mentioned above from here:

So for a loose get carry of it does artwork on anti virus and such. yet now i'm getting pop-united statessaying "installation errors" like 5 cases everytime I turn my laptop on. i attempted Spybot, an identical AVG message wont pass away. information superhighway root, does not artwork the two. i offered $80 4 McAfee 5-in-a million, the AVG nevertheless pops up. So pay attention of loose anti virus downloads. curiously even offered anti virus/spyware won't eliminate AVG loose. further word: I examine "classic" responce approximately SUPERantispyware and am down loading it now to work out if it may help me out. i visit assist you to recognize. 36 minutes and counting..... difficulty nevertheless there! Reboot attempt made no transformations. i does no longer use SUPERantispyware!

Not only do you need Anti-virus (I recommend AVG - as others have already mentioned) but you should make sure you have anti-spyware/adware software, a good firewall and you might want to think about using Mozilla Firefox as your web browser.

Zone Alarm is a great free firewall.

Windows Defender is free anti-spyware software

AVG - is my recommendation for free anti-virus software
