Make sure that you do the following on your computer or another computer with the owners permission only.

XP:

1 >> Log into safe mode

2 >> Log in as the computer Administrator, "Administrator" for the username

3 >> Leave the password blank

4 >> Control panel and change the password for your account

If that does not work:

All Version:

1 > Get Trinity Rescue Kit

2 >> Download the ISO version - http://trinityhome.org/Home/index.php?wpid=5&front_id=12

3 >> Burn the ISO to a CD using an ISO burner

4 >> Bootup from the CD

5 >> Remove the password

If you don't want to change the password:

1 > Get a program called Ophcrack

2 >> Download the liveCD (ISO) - http://www.ophcrack.sourceforge.net/

3 >> Burn the ISO to a CD using an ISO burner

4 >> The Live CD's come with the free rainbow tables, so you might need to download other tables (cost money)

4 >> Bootup from the CD

5 >> Crack the SAM and System file

If you could use another computer which could download from Internet, you can create a windows password recovery disk. Third party windows password recovery software windows login recovery could create such a disk. Only four steps:

Step 1: Download Windows Login Recovery and install it on the available computer

Step 2: Run the software and use it to burn a Windows password recovery disk (you could burn the file into the blank CD/DVD or USB flash drive)

Step 3: Change the BIOS setting of your locked computer to make it boot from the CD-ROM (Start computer and press F2 or Delete to enter BISO setup)

Step 4: Boot your locked computer from the created disk and remove the Windows password

It is easy and safe. Hope to help you.

AFAIK, administrator account can't be found out from guest account.you can download a windows password recovery software to remove the administrator password, and i have found this perfect blog from google, which supply the best way to recover lost password, including windows, office and so on: http://recoverforgetpassword.blog.com/ by using "windows password recovery" you can remove any local administrator account and user account to a blank password. clearing a password takes a minute or two works like a charm.

If you have a password recover disk, use that to get it back. Or, you'll have to format your drive, lose all your data, and reinstall OS to gain full access to your computer again via a new account.

Win7 has too good security so you definitely need external software to remove or retrieve your password and that cannot be done when logged in to windows.

Use ophcrack, it will get the problem solved easily,
