First off there are no virus for a Mac OS, there are some trojans but there hasn't been a virus written for a Mac in many years. So the apple support was right. A virus is not a trojan. Before anyone argues that please look it up.

Next the only way to get infected on a Mac is if you installed a program from a untrusted site. There was a photo shop program that had a trojan in it, iwork for free on the internet those dumb enough to think they can get a paid program for free downloaded these and installed and got infected. The other trojan was users went to sites mostly porn and the site told them they need to download a codec to view the video, the ones who did got infected. So you can go anywhere you want on the internet, view any videos or what ever. You are not going to get infected. Just don't download from untrusted places.

if truth be told, Macs and Linux desktops are extra complicated. laptop's have plenty extra courses obtainable to them because of the fact encryptions are hassle-free to place in writing for application designers and programmers for the particular working application that laptop's run on. Macs for sure want particularly professional application because of the fact the working application is distinctive. keeping that for the duration of strategies, you will possibly could create a scourge focused on Macs. although, writing encryptions for Macs is extra challenging, and Macs do not many times handle encryptions completely. they many times use the guidelines and then "eject" it after use, even if if that's a stressful disk or a sprint bit tips that the laptop reflects and deletes after use. laptop's, on the different hand, are much extra vulnerable because of the fact all courses could be everlasting so as for use, making the virus extra effective. yet another difficulty is basic info. laptop's are someplace around 5x as regularly occurring, and are therefor not basically the better objective, however the extra ample one. In essence, it is not that Macs can not get viruses, they only do not because of the fact the viruses have not been made for them, and there extra effective than probably isn't an afternoon while that happens because of the fact Apple application is designed in a fashion which makes viruses or damaging courses particularly complicated to plant on the laptop. there are a number of aspects, yet those are the important ones.

Ed couldn't have answered it any better than I would. Great job Ed.

There are no MacOS X viruses which have been released since 2006.

If you installed a trojan which meant you ignored the warning from Snow Leopard and put in your admin password when installing a trojan, try the 30 day demo of MacScan.

I'd suggest running your disk utility program and have it repair your permissions. I'd also suggest you turn on the firewall in your security settings.

Regardless of what you hear, Macs can definitely get viruses. The only reason the usually don't is that most companies run Windows. Would you spend days writing a virus to steal somebody's home photos off their Mac, or steal financial info from a company that runs Windows.

As more people switch to MAC, however, programmers will begin writing more Mac viruses. Enjoy your security while you can!

Yes, Mac computers can get infected with computer viruses and other malicious files and programs. However, there aren't as many viruses and such for Macs as there are for Windows computers.

I would suggest that you run frequent antivirus scans, as well as frequent antispyware or antimalware scans, just to be sure that your computer doesn't get infected with a computer virus or other malicious file or program.

Good luck and I hope I helped you!
