Yes there is. If you're using a connection provided by someone, like in a netcafe or something, then they can monitor your convos. My dad asked our provider to monitor the convos from this computer because he suspected me for something lol.

Like in IM messaging?
I'm using pfsense with the package: imspector. It logs all the conversation ICQ, MSN, Yahoo etc.
