You re very secure and that's because there is very few malware for Macs. (btw, there is only one trojan for mac os)
However, this doesn't mean you are impenetrable. I recommend using antivirus software for mac os so that you are completely protected.

Firefox is not more secure than IE
google "firefox myths" for more info.
As a mac user you are far less vulnerable to malware than a windows user (at this time.)
However, your IP is as vulnerable as the next person and anyone with a knowledge of unix and osx (which is the same - ie, the darwin kernel) can use known exploits to attempt to hack you or perform a denial of service against you. So having a proper security suite that includes a good firewall that is properly configured is still essential.
Also, in general.. having your system up to date with the latest security patches is essential. It is these patches that makes your operating system and the programs you use secure... without security patches.. you are open to all the things you are not patched against.
If you are a skype user then there is a known malware for macs. You might also want to google known os x vulnerabilities and malware while searching those firefox myths. Firefox uses tons of suspect add-ons...
Good Luck

Actually MAC systems is less prone to viruses and trojans than Windows systems.
If you are behind router with a NAT function or good built in firewall,so u no longer need any software firewall.
For additional protection run only a good antivirus, and keep using firefox.

There currently is no Trojan threats for Mac OS X (Wired news release, 2004). There are several companies selling keyloggers for OS X - but none that could install themselves from visiting an internet site (generally, they are used by parents, spouses and network administrators that have admin rights to your system, so they can take a peek at what you are up to 'til 4 a.m.). As long as you deny any application installation requests for your administrator password that appear to be coming from your visit to a website you should be fine.

Well, browsing is never safe. Be protected by using firewalls and antivirus softwares.
