I've been trying to sort out my comp but am having some very weird problems downloading software to help.

I am unable to connect to sites such as AVG, symantec & norton, spybot(the spyware cleaner) e.t.c. whereas I can connect to any other site fine such as this one, google, forums, e.t.c. It's like selective blocking of any site I can get help from.

This is the message I get:

Failed to Connect

The connection was refused when attempting to contact www.avg.com.

though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.

* Could the site be temporarily unavailable? Try again later.

* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.

* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.

Normally when that happens it's usually caused by having your Internet Browsing settings set too high.

Go into Internet Options and in the Security, Privacy and Advanced Tabs click on the buttons Reset to Default Levels.

After doing that give it a quick reboot and try it again.

Try it in safe mode with networking -

You may have an infection that is diverting your browsing -

Try to Google something and see if that gives a similar result -

If no result try your I.S.P. and see if they can check your connection

If you download any anti virus programs restart in normal mode so the program can look into ALL your drivers and files - In safe mode many of these are shut down -

you're able to desire to flow to a keep and study what's on the anti viruses boxes and be certain. i know a few human beings in right here have a frustrating time uninstalling norton. I study some the place that each and every physique of its data can not be got rid of. of direction, in case you preserve it, it is not significant. you elect a million anti virus and a million firewall. in case you purchase one, they must come mutually.
