Ok, so I admit it. I am the person who was scared into paying $50.00 because something popped up on my lap top saying that i needed anti virus protection otherwise my computer was going to crash. This program stated that i needed to upgrade, so i assumed it was a program that i had already had.... It wasn't. I proceeded to download Security Tool which after a week of having on my computer and having a friend add "tune up utilities" am now just finding out that this program is a sham. Take a moment to laugh because i still can't believe i downloaded this program AND PAID FOR IT... ok Now for the help that i need.

I want to make sure that i get this program deleted from my computer since it isn't something i want on here. I WANT TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING HAVING TO DO WITH THE PROGRAM IS DELETED. Further more i am proceeding to download avast. I just want to know if there is anything else that i may be able to download FOR FREE in order to make sure my computer isn't infected with a virus and works properly. I would appreciate ANY help or extra information on this matter. THANK YOU. :)

The experts at BleepingComputer.com have a removal guide for it:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-security-tool

They recommend using Malwarebytes to remove it.

Be aware that some people have had numerous extra charges on their credit card from the crooks from Security Tool, so be alert to combat that possibility

There are so many out there. Yeah, AVG Free worked great, (for a year) but it is a trail thing I guess and it won't allow me to uninstall AVG. So for a FREE download it does work on anti virus and such. But now I get pop-ups saying "Installation error" like 5 times everytime I turn my computer on. I tried Spybot, the same AVG message wont go away. Web root, doesn't work either. I bought $84 McAfee 5-in-1, the AVG still pops up. So beware of FREE anti virus downloads. Apparently even purchased anti virus/spyware won't get rid of AVG FREE. Additional note: I read "Classic" responce about SUPERantispyware and am down loading it now to see if it can help me out. I will let you know. 36 minutes and counting..... Problem still there! Reboot effort made no changes. I would NOT use SUPERantispyware!

You often have to take a multi-pronged approach to eradicate all the malware. One product usually doesn't do it alone.

First download the following (if the virus is blocking your internet, you may have to download these on another machine and burn to CD or copy to a USB memory stick)

Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Superantispyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.html

CCleaner (cleans out caches) http://www.ccleaner.com

Avast! 4 Home: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

Now, start the machine in Safe Mode (hit the F8 function key as the machine boots up, and choose Safe mode)

Turn off System Restore on your machine, but only until you get this fixed - many of these trojans get copied into the System Restore files, which anti-virus programs aren't allowed to touch and the viruses could reinstall themselves from there. My Computer > Properties > System Restore.

Then run CCleaner (it'll make scanning faster because it will delete a bunch of temp files and save you from having to scan those.)

Then run Malwarebytes, and clean everything it says.

Then install and run Avast - tell Avast to do a boot-scan - click on "schedule boot-scan" - and restart the computer

Let it start and do the Avast boot scan

Then install and run Superantispyware

Then turn System Restore back on.

Now install the antivirus program and antispyware program of your choice to do continuous scanning, and make sure you keep it up to date.

Always keep your Windows, web browser and Java software up to date - frequent patches are released to plug security holes.

Well, the answer there is the best way to remove the virus without reformatting your computer. However, i am a believer that you should reformat EVERY time you get a virus. For people who are not technically savvy, this can be a problem, and a nuisance. Since i reformat with every virus, i backup my important files, this way i can reformat immediately and retain all of my data that is difficult to get back. I would highly recommend that you acquire a windows installation disk, and re-install the operating system. Be sure to reformat the hard drive when it asks you to. If you are interested in backing up anything, ill link you the product i use, www.backupspace.com you can store 25GB for five dollars.

Try spyware doctor ( pack.google.com got a free version with antivirus). Disable antivirus protection if you got AVAST's, AVasts detection ratio is better, however spyware doctor is better agains programs like security tool.

Also, good choice is superantispyware ( http://www.superantispyware.com ) and it should work with avast.
