Question:
Do I have a Virus?
2017-07-16 13:14:07 UTC
I was looking at a website and suddenly, this screen popped up:
---
Apple Security
Urgent Action Required!
(3) Viruses have been detected on your iPad!
We have detected that your has been infected with viruses. It will soon corrupt your iCloud data, photos and contacts if no action is taken.
You need to protect your iPad now!
---
Then it goes to a screen where I download an app to help. Is this a scam? I don't think so but I've looked it up and for many people it's seemed like a scam. Do I just download the app?

You probably do not have a virus. It is usually a scare pop-up, to force the user into clicking it. If you do click it, then there is a high chance that you will get some form of malicious software on your PC.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DOWNLOAD ANYTHING COMING FROM POP-UP ADS!!!!!!!

That is the general rule you should be following. Ads are one of the main ways to spread malware, and removing it can cause some serious problems. People do recommend that you use some form of Adblock to remove ads nearly entirely from your web page. Other than that, if you are worried, you could do a scan of your computer with Malwarebytes and anti-virus software of your choice, to confirm or deny your worries about viruses and malware on your PC. Good luck!

if a image pops up that says you have a virus, then take for granted the pop-up itself is a virus. click the go-back key until you reach a safe site.

do you have a virus? i dont know. Is your vagina green?

Here's a good tip: DONT CLICK ON ADS, close their window. NEVER trust any ads from the internet. Especially those that tell you something is wrong with your computer simply because they cannot see/scan your computer without your permission first. So they cant know whats going on in your computer.

And also those ads that say you've won something. NOBODY wins anything ever in the history of winning something in the internet. NeeeeVeeerrrr. ....okay maybe a few but you get the point

It's scam. If you load a scanner you WILL get a virus. Ignore it. Reboot and continue.
