I was on facebook, I was using the app friend faq and a pop up said my comp was infected. I closed out and then I saw this file pop up on my desktop. The file is called avg_free_stf_en_85_374a1564 I scanned it with AVG free and it said it didn't contain any viruses, but I am not sure. Is this file a potential threat or is it ok? File is 63.1 MB. I opened the properties on this file and the description says that it is: AVG Setup Self-Extractor based on 7-Zip. If you right click on the file and go into properties the tabs include: general, version, compatability, digital signatures, and summary. There is also a security warning at the bottom of the properties window the warning says "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer." Time this file was created is 5:28 pm on July 11, 2009. The AVG anti-virus shortcut was made at 6:26 pm on July 11, 2009. If it is a virus, what can I do to get rid of it? I don't know if it has always been there or if it just appeared. If it has always been there I just now noticed it.

I can tell you this much. The file originated in the PHILIPPINES. That's enough to let you know it ain't kosher. It was set to you by another computer through some kind of P2P. I would delete it.

The following file size has been seen:

* 1,972,822 bytes

* 1,894,998 bytes

Green AV (If thats what your talking about) is a virus that makes pop-ups. Malwarebytes can remove hidden viruses-such as fake anti-viruses- and it is free!

I don't think it's genuine but it is best to leave that file alone. It might affect other files.

TIP: Did you say no threat? Well, why don't you try other antivirus programs instead?

That file refers to porn.

If you have security, you can goggle that file and see.

To be safe, I would not click anything after you get into one of those.
