PLEASE, THIS IS DRIVING ME MAD
I'm scared to visit anywhere at all on the internet, I can't sleep and it took me a whole night of battling with myself to decide to post this here. Maybe I'll get some answers.

I've called tech support lines, my father and even my friend. Nobody seems to have heard of this happening before.

I think I have a virus. It all started off when I was browsing a blog and I knew it was a safe blog that doesn't have this kind of content. Suddenly, one of those horrible pictures of a dismembered corpse appeared in the middle of the blog. It was so bizzare, I assumed that maybe the blog had been hacked and checked the comments. Not a single one even mentioned the picture and I submitted a comment about it and refreshed only to find the picture gone.

I started to see these pictures on webpages everywhere. They weren't pop ups, they were just there like normal content. They even replaced my wallpaper at one point and when I checked my documents there were some in there, I deleted those and went to the recycle bin where there was so much stuff that I don't remember having let alone deleting.

I invited a friend around to look at my computer and it was perfectly fine just for that time. I don't have a webcam or any other way any hacker could know that I had a friend around.

I became scared to browse any websites but I carried on because I am addicted. The shock images started to go away but instead any picture of a person now had their eyes gorged out. It was fine at first becuause they were just crappy edits I could have done myself on paint but they started to become more and more realistic and I think I'm going mad.

here may be several signs that a computer has a virus infection . It is often difficult to distinguish whether there is an hardware error or a software problem since viruses are written to avoid detection, and to damage your computer.

Some of the common problems caused by computer viruses are:

1. Sudden system crashes and computer reboots automatically.

2. Application software crashes and random messages are displayed on the monitor.

3. Computer becomes very slow

4. Hard disk data gets corrupted and hard disk will not boot

How to fix it:

If there is a problem which could be caused either by a hardware malfunction or a virus , it is advisable to first run an antivirus program. It is cheaper and easier to solve a problem using free antivirus software.

Get a free antivirus program. Some of the free antivirus programs available are:

1. Norton Anti Virus Special Edition 2005 from Symantec in Google Pack. Free updates for a period of six months

2. AVG Anti-virus free edition - change the default email scanning option as it slows the system down

3. Avast - can be installed for 60 days, before you register it for free

Download the anti virus software to your computer hard disk and install the software. Get the latest updates from the companies website.

Run the antivirus software, preferably in safe mode. If any virus is detected, the antivirus software will first try to clean the infected file. If this is not possible, the software will quarantine the file.

To prevent computer virus problems in future

1. Install a firewall to protect your computer when you connect to the internet

2. Do not allow anyone to install software or copy any files to your computer without scanning the software /data with the latest updated anti virus software

3. Never open files with suspicious attachments, especially if they are from strangers. Always request files to be sent as a text attachment.

4. Avoid joining paid to read , adult , file sharing and other illegal websites, the computers of visitors to these websites usually get infected with viruses and spy ware.

Use System Restore, when antivirus and Spyware remover software does not work..

spyware remover will be malwarebytes or MSE

I had a bad virus/trojan and the only only software that caught it for me was www.surfright.nl. It is actually called Hitman 3.5 and can be downloaded for 30 days for free. It grabbed it asap. Very very easy to run - takes only seconds. I ended up buying a year's subscription for $19.95 I was so impressed. Give it a try. Second suggestion would be malewarebytes. It is good too Good luck. I'm all bent out of shape when something goes wrong on my computer so I KNOW how you feel.
