AVG Free 8.5 installation continually fails - Can you help?

Question

Just installed expired Trend Micro Internet Security Pro; trying to install AVG Free 8.5, but I keep getting the following error:

Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for registry value HKLM\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions:{3f963a5b-e555-4543-90e2-c3908898db71}: creating registry value....
Error 0x80070005

I don't even HAVE Mozilla Firefox (unless there are some hidden files I don't know about; if there are, how do I find and get rid of them?)

No other security software on my computer. I did have Windows Firewall off, although I've now turned it on. (AVG does not install either way. Should firewall be on, off, or does it matter?)

I have Windows 7.0 on a Dell Inspiration 6000 with XP Pro

I don't know the AVG virus db version (whatever that is) because I don't know where to find it.

Use the removal tool , then retry to upload the program avg, which btw does not have root kit protection. You might consider avira or avast free.

must have eg antivirus , firewall , antispyware , browser and lots

more. Always get the latest versions via this site as new versions

come out to fix flaws & problems in older versions of software.

I would not install AVG free because it lacks rootkit protection making it unacceptable. You may need to look if Trend Micro offers an uninstaller.
