Question:
Malwarebytes' Anti-malware won't open?

I have the free version of Malwarebytes' anti-malware and for some reason I can't get it to open. When I click on the shortcut on my desktop I get a message that says "Missing Shortcut" and it can't find the file. I have uninstalled and reinstalled repeatedly and tried to contact customer service but nothing has worked. To make matters worse, I think I have some kind of infection because pop ups are randomly appearing but neither AVG Free or Avast! is finding anything.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Click on start>click on all programs and click on the mbam folder to expand and right click on the mbam file with the red and white icon and click send to desktop. Go to desktop and double click to run and if this not work, uninstall and do a good clean-up and reinstall or use this link for a random renamed mbam.exe see>http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=29028

Each time you click the "here" in link, it will give you a different renamed mbam.exe, if the first doesn't work try again.

www.freedrweb.com/cureit/?lng=en

download install go to safe mode, it defaults to a quick scan, after quick scan do complete scan

this is coming through old java updates, try going to a friends and downloading malwarebytes on a usb drive. then run it from the drive. The drweb live cd is better if you know how to burn a live cd download both to a usb and Vundofix too for that matter http://vundofix.atribune.org/

good luck

turn off restore volume

I've pulled this off 3 computers in the last 2 days malwarebytes works no it doesn't offer real time but neither does free supantispyware

If you can't get online you might have to try safe mode with networking.

You will need to turn off your computer. You will need to start tapping the f8 button and then turn on your computer and keeping tapping f8 until you get to an advanced boot options menu. Then use your arrows to select safe mode with networking. Then log into admin and try again.

If it doesn't let you get into safe mode or let you online you will need to go to a different computer and save that program to a flash drive and then try to install it that way.

Then to prevent you from getting these viruses again download and run this free program where you can run everything in a virtual environment. Then even if you go to a bad site or download a bad file it wont matter because it will be trapped in the sandbox and it wont be able to affect your real computer.

Malwarebytes is just one of a few good scanners. Try SuperAntiSpyware and A-squared also updating both first. You could also update SuperAntiSpyware, restart PC in safe mode and run it. End off by running Ccleaner...

Reinstall the program and then reboot in safe mode. Whatever is preventing malwarbytes from turning on will be turned off then.

Try looking for the .exe in program files.

Run a sandboxie on MBAM to monitor it.

Also its not good to have two anti-viruses on your computer, because they can detect each other and cause false alarms.
