Freaky processes in task manager that I haven't seen before. They safe or what?

NMIndexStoreSvr.exe
wuauclt.exe
NMIndexingService.exe
Those are some of the stuff in my suspicous(<==correct this word) list. They appeared when our computer started going slow. And probably when that virus attack happened too. So are these .exe alright? Or should I do something about them? what do they do, wreak havoc? Pls, need answers. pretty pls with sugar on top?

The NM programs are part of Nero, read below.

The wu program is part of windows update.

Don't worry nothing bad......



Wuauclt.exe is a process managing automatic updates for

Windows.



NMIndexStoreSvr.exe and NMIndexingService.exe are a part of Nero.

Both are used for storing or indexing media files and are real resource hogs but not realy needed.



If you want you can exclude the processes of nero from start up.

Go to Start, run, type Msconfig, uncheck the boxes from those processes on the services or start-up tab.

wuauclt.exe seems to have something to do with Windows Automatic Update. I notice it gumming things up whenever I boot, which is a logical time for WAU to call home.



That's not to say a piece of malware couldn't have stolen wuauclt's identity.

wuauclt.exe is fine, its windows update doing some unattended downloads or someting.

These are not harmful files. The Nero program you have on your machine can slow it down, according to the first link.

wuauclt.exe is an auto update
