So I have 10 Svchost.EXEs processes running in the task manager. At least one of them is using 756,484k of my memory right now. (which is ALLOT for my computer) It's been doing that and taking up my resources. I understand what the process is, but these are now making my computer really slow and I've never had this problem before in the 6 years of my computer life. This definitely isn't my first time examining my processes on the task manager. So I know there's a problem here. I understand the some of them can be viruses? I have Norton 360 (yes it sucks and i do agree) and Malwarebytes on my computer and they both can't find any "malicious items". So it looks like I'm gonna have to do this myself? ANY HELP PLEASE!

Oh and after a couple hours the sound doesn't work. I'm an amateurish music producer and I know how to check to see what's wrong... at least I'm pretty sure ;) When i try to get on my FL Studio, as it loads this error message appears: "could not create the DirectSound object" That's the only hint as to what it is i got. I don't know if these two problems are related but I sure hope they are!

go on google & look for AutoRuns (its by sysinternals) its free & is also on microsoft site

just unzip it and then on the same page look for the plugins

none of this installs

you can run their process explorer & highlight the scvhost and see what actual DLL file is using it ;)

then in auto runs you can find the DLL and untick it so it doesn't load up with the pc

this are basicly super versions of task manager & msconfig and no one should be without them

NOTE:

before unloading dll files & deleting them

upload them to the likes of Virus total & jotis malware scanner

(always select rescan to, dont use the old results)

to be sure your not removing important windows files, if their clean, their not the one

that my friend is how u manualy remove a virus your av is to thick to see on a scan :)

Sounds like a reformat/reinstall solution.

But if you want to get your hands dirty you could look at this site and try some computer sleuthing. Since you said you are a music guy, these processes might just be some of your audio intensive programs that continue to run even when you aren't using them.

Just for starters... click Start->run, then type "cmd" at the prompt type "tasklist /SVC". Look at the side of your svchost services you'll see the various programs running under that name.

It sounds like you have registry and or driver problems as well as some sort of viri.

I've never seen an svchost use that much memory. If I were you I would reformat & reinstall windows and choose a better antivirus.

yeah, that gives a lot of errors and especially in windows XP. anti viruses detects that as a virus however, the file is fine. Do not remove it or try anything crazy.

download Autorun by sysInternals:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902

that svchost.exe is a kind of bug or worm that consume your memory..

that happens on me too..

worst thing is it won't let you connect

thru internet if that won't be remove at time..

if you don't know how to use the

software above try to download: "Security Task Manager"

this is very effective one i use to get rid of that svchost.exe..

if you find it delete it.. but be careful, some svchost.exe that

running on your system is very important..
