I've got a pretty nasty virus, damn you creators of these fowl beings. Anyways, i got this nasty virus, that from my guess either, added a new program into my computer that OPENS a new Internet explorer window and goes to random websites that are pop up adds, such as this url. http://content.yieldmanager.edgesuite.net/atoms/d3/f0/8a/b2/d3f08ab210722573bb9558ff861ae78b.gif
its either that idea, or, it just is a virus that opens the windows, basically, opens a window every 15-40 seconds and i cant seem to even uninstall internet explorer. If it helps I'm on a windows XP, and i need help finding a good anti virus program or just some helpful tips.
I already have AVG anti virus, which is no help what so ever. (Thanks AVG!) As well as a program that my friend recommended, hijackthis, which sorta works but not really. All help is appreciated!
Thanks a ton.

this is what you need.

in safe mode F8 run malwarebytes anti-malware and SUPERAntispyware, and what they find you

delete it manually. then run ccleaner to clean your pc, and mvregclean, to clean registry.

what mvregclean find you remove because the key is there but not the file ,folder or program.

even you reformat and it finds anything remove dont be afraid.

dont forget when you install this software to update them, and do an update every day

then restore untill before you get infected.

Have you tried to reinstall IE? If you know when you first got this virus, or when it started giving you trouble, you can restore your computer to a date prior to that date.

To do that, follow these steps:

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

Select "Restore my computer to an earlier time" > Next>

You'll see a calendar. Dates that are in bold have system restore points where you can restore to that date and time. A description is given for each restore point. Some says may have multiple restore points.

Select a restore point > Next>

Read and follow directions from here on in...

You won't need to backup any recent files or document, but it will undo anything that's been installed and so on. Just know that some things may be undone due to a restore other then just the suspected program that's giving you headaches.

I hope this can fix your issues. Best of luck

Use the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. (There is a paid commercial version, you won't need this)

(Advise! DON'T click on anything while Malwarebytes is running! You may get all sorts of pop-ups. So many, that you may not be able to see the Malwarebytes program running. IT IS running! Some will be fake Microsoft 'shields', and some will be real. (You'll see what I mean when you look in your system tray. Two Shields, but only one is real) DON'T click on the pop-ups!

I've used Avast antivirus for quite awhile and I like it. It has caught plenty of viruses and such that other programs missed. It also has the option for a boot-time scan, which is helpful in deleting viruses that are stubborn to get rid of when Windows is already running.

It's also nice because it is entirely free.
