Don't go downloading those crapy anti-virus programs from internet sites- they just want ur money & will never work. And esp dont get fooled into using the winpc's virus protection aka the actual virus that will further wreck ur pc.

1. To stop the annoying alerts so u can remove the virus without interuption- 'Ctrl+Alt+Delete' then click 'Processes' find 'winav.exe' and select it then click 'End Process'.

2. Click 'start' & on the right side click 'search' type in all of the following files & search them in 'my computer' or 'local hard drives' & right click & 'delete' all of these-:

%UserProfile%\Application Data\winav.exe

%UserProfile%\Desktop\WinPC Antivirus.LNK

%UserProfile%\Start Menu\WinPC Antivirus.LNK

3. Its important to completely remove these files so open the recycle bin, right click & click 'empty recycle bin'

4. Click the “Start” button & select “Run” option. Type “cmd” into the “Open” field and click the “OK” button. Now manually type “regsvr32 /u ieocx.dll” into the Comand Prompt window & click “Enter”. This is to unregister WinPC Antivirus DLL libraries.

5. If u have an antivirus program installed you may be able to do this. I have Norton360 which now kinda sucks cause it allowed me to get this virus. I dont know if its the same for other antivirus programs but I went to 'pc security' then 'manage firewall' then 'program rules' then I blocked the internet access for various programs associated with the virus such as 'difXinstall32', 'spoolsv' & esp. 'winav.exe' I also blocked 'i Tunes' from having net access cause that has heaps of virus' apparently.

6. Its also recommended that you start your computer in 'safemode' & run a full virus scan with ur antivirus program just to make sure.

Hopefully this all helps & works at removing the virus

Here is how it's done.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, or MBAM, from the following location and save it to your desktop:

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Download Link

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Once downloaded, close all programs and Windows on your computer, including this one.

Double-click on the icon on your desktop named Download_mbam-setup.exe. This will start the installation of MBAM onto your computer.

. When the installation begins, keep following the prompts in order to continue with the installation process. Do not make any changes to default settings and when the program has finished installing, make sure you leave both the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware checked. Then click on the Finish button.

MBAM will now automatically start and you will see a message stating that you should update the program before performing a scan. As MBAM will automatically update itself after the install, you can press the OK button to close that box and you will now be at the main program as shown below.

MalwareBytes Anti-Malware Screen

On the Scanner tab, make sure the the Perform quick scan option is selected and then click on the Scan button to start scanning your computer for WinPC Antivirus related files.

MBAM will now start scanning your computer for malware. This process can take quite a while, so we suggest you go and do something else and periodically check on the status of the scan. When MBAM is scanning it will look like the image below.

MalwareBytes Anti-Malware Scanning Screen

When the scan is finished a message box will appear as shown in the image below.

MalwareBytes Anti-Malware Scan Finished Screen

You should click on the OK button to close the message box and continue with the WinPCAntivirus removal process.

You will now be back at the main Scanner screen. At this point you should click on the Show Results button.

A screen displaying all the malware that the program found will be shown as seen in the image below. Please note that the infections found may be different than what is shown in the image.

MalwareBytes Scan Results

You should now click on the Remove Selected button to remove all the listed malware. MBAM will now delete all of the files and registry keys and add them to the programs quarantine. When removing the files, MBAM may require a reboot in order to remove some of them. If it displays a message stating that it needs to reboot, please allow it to do so. Once your computer has rebooted, and you are logged in, please continue with the rest of the steps.

When MBAM has finished removing the malware, it will open the scan log and display it in Notepad. Review the log as desired, and then close the Notepad window.

You can now exit the MBAM program.

Your computer should now be free of the WinPCAntivirus program. If your current anti-virus solution let this infection through, you may want to consider purchasing the PRO version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to protect against these types of threats in the future. I had WinPC Antivirus. It's one HELL of a nasty trojan and it gets right into the registry keys on your comuter, and eventually disabled my McAfee. Malwarebyte's does NOT work, I tried it three times. It would not install properly, and when it did, it didn't work right and I had such a problem getting rid of it. Anti spyware and anti virus software does NOT recognize it, believe me, I tried (AD Aware and super anti-virus found nothing)

Here's what I had to do.

I had to contact Dell (the provider of my computer) and request the recovery disks for the entire computer system (ended up being 5 disks in total). The ONLY way I could get rid of WinPC was to wipe my C drive and use the recovery disks to reinitialize my comp. Royal pain in the %#@!&%!...

They sent the disks no charge, and if you don't know too much about computers, I suggest you get someone over to help you reinitialize your comp, it's a little complicated if you don't know what you are doing.

I had to reinstall everything (latest versions of Internet Explorer, Adobe, Windows Live Messenger, all my games, Windows Media Player, and many more), so I suggest if you decide to go this route, back up all the files you don't want deleted (word documents, pictures, music etc).

Wiping the C drive may be the only way to get rid of WinPC for good. It was for me. I got rid of McAfee (it's not that good and it gave me problems before) and I now have Kaspersky. No problems so far!

Good luck.

PS. It was STILL there when I put the comp into Safe Mode. No difference.

WinPC Antivirus is a rogue antispyware program and a deadly virus. It uses "scareware" to attempt to frighten you into purchasing the program. Once installed it will simply make your computer more infected and put all your private information at risk.

Fortunately with the right program you can remove WinPC Antivirus pretty quickly. You need a top flight antispyware program that can perform deep registry scans. I have personally used a program that removes WinPC Antivirus easily. You can scan your computer for free at http://www.spyware-fix.net

Good luck!
