Question:
My computer will not let me log into yahoo or other secure websites?

Recently, when I have attempted to log into Yahoo on my home PC I get an error or a time-out warning. Sometimes I get the "Internet explorere has stopped working" message also, but other web pages work fine. It started with me not being able to sign into Yahoo but now I am slowly losing the ability to sign into other websites also. I am pretty sure it is not my router or modem because my other PC works fine. Although my laptop (one I am having issues with) does run wireless and my PC is hard-wired. Any ideas?

Perhaps you should try clearing Internet Explorer's cookies and then see if you're able to access Yahoo! or other secure websites.

If you would like to clear your browser's cookies and you're using Internet Explorer 8, you can do so by going to Tools and then to Internet Options.

From there, you should click on the "Delete..." button under the "Browsing history" section of the "General" tab, where you should be able to delete things, such as your temporary Internet files, cookies, history, as well as other things.

If that doesn't work, perhaps you should try repairing your connection by going to the Control Panel and then to Network and Internet Connections.

From there, you should right click on your connection and choose "Repair".

If you are still unable to log into Yahoo! or other secure websites, perhaps you should try resetting your router by unplugging it for about fifteen seconds or so and then plugging it back in.

Good luck and I hope I helped you!

Under normal conditions, I'd say it could be a system time issue, but if it's a gradual SSL site problem, that's a bit weird, unless your lapper CMOS battery is getting low, and you only connect to the 'Net on occasion, then it might behave like that.

Just for kicks, see if the time thing is a part of the problem:

Right click tray time> "Adjust..."> Update.

While here, tick 'Automatic synchronize...'

the very first thing to do is start running virus, and spyware scans... you could be infected.

You can download software below for malwarebytes, spybot, and there is also a online scanner for you.

Run these scans in safemode by pressing F5 or F8 when you turn your computer on. Choose the option to start in safemode, with our without networking and that will depend if you have updated the software already, if not try with networking.

Start with this, and if all else fails...
