Question:
Gain Access to User Files and Folders on old Hard Drive?

How do I gain permission to my old user files from an old hard drive? I have been able to go into the security tab in the properties and add "Everyone" and give full control. That lets me see the files I have, but i need to do that for every individual file and folder (in that folder) to open it. There must be a better way to access everything at once rather that setting permissions for every individual file. Please let me know if there is a way to do this.

Right click on the folder that the files are contained in and set everyone.

You don't need to give control to "Everyone" unless absolutely necessary. You can simply change the owner by clicking the 'Advanced' button, going to the Owner tab, checking "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects', and picking your account. The files should already allow full access to the account (or group) marked as owner.

suitable click on the itemizing call additionally brings up a secure practices tab. have you ever tried changing the secure practices settings there, making constructive you positioned it such that one and all subfolders inherit the secure practices settings? OR have you ever tried making yourselves simply by fact the administrator on Win 7 and then gaining access to the folders on your previous no longer worry-free disk?
