Every time I start my computer it says I have new hardware to install, but there is no new hardware. It won't give me any more information other than it is a video controller (VGA compatible). How do I get rid of this?
I DO NOT HAVE A GRAPHICS OR VIDEO CARD!

First of all, If you can plug your MOnitor cable to your CPU and it works then you definitely have a Graphics/Video Card. In order for a computer to function properly as it expected it should have a Video/Graphics Card installed or else it will be useless.

Anyway, for your question. Have you recently installed a video hardware or something like video contoller in your CPU? if yes, then you need the updated driver version for it, you can download the driver by searching using its manufacturer name & model and if not be sure that each hardware in your computer has a driver installed to your computer you can check it by following the instruction i've provided for you below:

Right-CLick my computer -> Manager -> Computer Management window will appear. From the left Panel select 'Device Manager' -> from the right panel check each driver by if it has problem by clicking the cross sign '+' to see the list of hardware. Right-click to each hardware and select properties, from that properties window you will see the status of the selected driver.

Hope this help you.

Try to find the model of your Graphics card and search for the appropriate driver in the net and install it or you can even install ithe driver from your Motherboard CD. you need to find the directory (might be named VGA as you said that it's a VGA card)where the setup files for your graphics card is located. if nothing works then do the following

Remove physically the graphics card from your CPU and uninstall the driver. Then fix the graphics card and reinstall the driver.

When The "FOUND NEW HARDWARE" Wizzard Pops Up, Click Next One Time. At The Top Should Be The Name Of Your NEW- FOUND -HARDWARE.

You do have a graphics controller. It may need a driver.

Right click on MY COMPUTER and select Manage.

Then select Devices.

See if any of your devices have this yellow or red color ! on it. If it does, then you need to update the driver for that device.
