Will TOR and VPN protect my identity?

Hello Yahoo community,

I am a current high school student. A person in school has inflicted quite a lot of emotional pain on me for the last two years. This person has bullied me, as I am considered a nerd. Recently, I decided to get back on this person by sending her a few emails created on a temporary website (such as guerrilla email). The messages are not threatening in nature, but they did call this person awful names. I am not proud of what I did, but I was so emotionally overwhelmed and felt a need to speak my mind (even if it is anonymously).

I send those messages using VPN and TOR at the same time. Today this person had her mother come in to our school and speak to the principal about the awful messages sent to her. They do not know who send them. I regret what I did, so now my question is this: will TOR and VPN continue to protect my identity? Is there a way for them to track down who sent them. I know the NRA can easily do this, but as my messages are not threatening immediate harm in nature, she has no case to report to the police.

Sure, the NSA probably has the capabilities to track you down, but it's beyond normal law enforcement.



TOR encrypts and bounces your traffic around the world. It's likely the IP address that was Guerilla mail recorded was located in a different country.

Next time, if there is a next time, add one more step since you are paranoid. Send your email through an anonymous re-mailer. Just one more level of anonymity.

Tor etc will protect you if the person who is on your back is not savvy or is not persistent enough to try and track you.
