It's actually not true that you should never run more than one antivirus program. There are some techs who prefer not to. It is true that they can conflict, and it can generate false positives. However, it is equally true that no one program finds and identifies all malware files. It's common for one program to get a definition in an update that another program doesn't get, or doesn't get right away. Where I work, we like to run a couple of programs together, to provide a little better protection against new viruses as they come out. Also, we use several tools to remove viruses and it's not that uncommon for one to find a virus that another one missed.

That said, McAfee is just not a very effective program, so when it expires, I'd recommend switching to AVG or Avast (the free versions are fine).

If it's the ROM file thats the "virus" I seriously doubt it's a virus, so it's likely a false-positive. Send the file to virustotal.com to get a better comparison.

It may be a false positive but more likely it's a clash between the two programs.

You shouldn't be running two anti virus programs, get rid of one!☺

you can only run one antivirus program - mcafee or MSE - delete one.

you will not get true reading running two AVs.

If you think your one AV is missing a virus, run:
